Tessa (she/her) is an interdisciplinary artist and author/illustrator of Sometimes People March. Tessa grew up on the West Coast, feasting, fighting, and making joyful stories with her four siblings. She has been a dancer since the age of 3, a choreographer since the age of 4, and a playwright since age 7. In her creative work, she loves to explore the stories, food, moments, and environments that shape our identities and communities.She loves silliness and whimsy, but her stories also always have an emotional core and a sense of character and place.

Tessa studied History at Willamette University and received her masters degree in Performance Studies from NYU. Alongside her creative work, Tessa is an educator and teaches history (New-York Historical Society), theater, visual art, and dance (DreamYard) in the New York area. She now lives and grows in Brooklyn, New York.
